It’s Time to Stop Fighting and Start Leaning…
So many of us know and feel t
he pressure to get “back to normal” after cancer.
Either the wanting our lives to return to what they once were….
“I just want to be done with all of this and put cancer behind me.”
Or the external expectation to go back to who we once were…
“You’re all good now, right?”
In either form, it’s the same thing.
A pressure, oftentimes a debilitating pressure, to return to what once was.
But here’s the thing….
And I know you know this deep down inside,
We are never going to be able to return to who we were before we got diagnosed with cancer because we are no longer the same person.
We have experienced physical and mental trauma.
Our bodies and minds are forever altered.
And when something like that happens…well, it forever changes you.
It’s not a bad or a good thing…
It just is what it is.
And the sooner we accept that, the better.
Because when we fight this concept, when we tell ourselves that we can push the new parts of us down,
We are working against something that is never going to budge.
It’s like we are salmon swimming upstream.
Eternally.
The good news?
Once we stop fighting against the changes,
And we start embracing the changes,
Or better yet, when we lean into the changes and start shifting with intention,
Beautiful things are unlocked.
Beautiful growth,
Beautiful transformations,
Beautiful lives.
Because the agony often lies in the resistance.
The discomfort and the feelings of being lost are stemming from trying to resist the changes that have happened,
Rather than accepting and growing from the changes that have happened.
So, let’s try something different.
Let’s try and stop resisting,
Stop trying to go back to who you once were.
And start embracing the new.
Look at your new life with curiosity, acceptance and intention.
Cause I know I don’t have to tell you that we only have one life to live.
So make it beautifully yours.
Lots of Love and Light,
~Adriana
